The Spires of Harmonic Tempering
The air in this circular vault is thick with the scent of ozone and damp earth. Four bronze basins, each carved with distinct elemental motifs of crashing waves, roaring flames, jagged peaks, and swirling clouds, sit at the cardinal directions. In the center stands a three-tiered obsidian spire, its segments rotating independently with a heavy grinding sound. Faint light emanates from narrow grooves in the floor that connect the basins to the central spire, pulsing with a rhythmic amber glow that hums softly whenever someone approaches the center.
