The Marble Golem's Lazulite Test
A damp abandoned mine opens into a circular cavern where a marble golem stands under a lantern hook of corroded iron, its white stone skin veined with dust and blue crystal flecks. Four adjoining cave mouths each glow with a different tint of reflected mineral light, and each room carries a distinct sound of life or stone: fluttering wings, dripping water, scratchy roots, and the groan of strained timber. At the center, a pedestal holds a lazulite crystal that pulses once whenever the golem shifts its gaze, as if the entire mine is waiting for a wise answer before it will breathe again.
