The Sputtering Sentinel of Sector 4

A massive brass face is fused into the iron-bound door at the end of the hall. Its eyes are faceted rubies that pulse with a faint, dying orange glow. Thick copper pipes coil around the door frame like metallic vines, occasionally shuddering and emitting a sharp hiss of pressurized steam. Beneath the face, a tarnished silver plaque is etched with precise, geometric lettering. The sentinel makes a rhythmic clicking sound, similar to a heart beating inside a metal cage, but the cadence is irregular, skipping beats as if its internal gears are snagged on grit.
