The Arachnid's Ledger

The journal is bound in pallid, cured skin that feels uncomfortably like human vellum. When opened, a sprawling, hand-drawn spider web occupies the centerfold, its silk lines etched in a violet ink that appears to pulse like a slow heartbeat. Faint wisps of necromantic energy curl from the pages, smelling of old grave earth and bitter almond. Tiny, mummified spiders are pressed between the pages, their legs acting as cryptic pointers toward specific lines of text or symbols hidden in the margins.
