The Sentinels of Wolftide

The South Gate of Wolftide is a massive arch of salt-stained granite, barred by a heavy iron-banded portcullis. Two guards in blue tabards stand at attention, their halberds forming a lethal 'V' across the threshold. A large, scarred mastiff named Cinder sits by their feet, sniffing the air for the smell of fear or deception. To the side, a public notice board displays a rain-spattered ordinance, while a small pile of rejected paperwork and debris lies in the gutter. The air is thick with the scent of damp wool, cold iron, and the low-level tension of a city on the edge of a riot.
