The Fourfold Balance Vault
The vault chamber is circular and austere, its black basalt walls inlaid with copper veins that glow like banked coals under a skin of frost. Four waist-high mechanisms stand at the cardinal points around a central door: a sunwheel, a frost lever, an ember pedal, and a bronze vane, all ringed with weathered glyphs of flame, ice, wind, and stone. The air tastes metallic and dry, but each mistaken touch answers with a visible shiver in the room, a puff of ash, a breath of cold mist, or a gust that rattles the chains above, while the door itself remains sealed behind a lattice of slowly rotating elemental sigils.
