Key Personas

Varros Thorne
Varros is a man of chilling pragmatism who views morality as a luxury the coastal city cannot afford. He is remarkably patient with subordinates who show technical merit but will silence a complaining worker with a single, icy stare. He treats his mechanical hand with more tenderness than he does any living human, often seen polishing its joints while discussing the necessity of human sacrifice. While he appears cold, he is internally frantic, driven by a deep-seated belief that the ocean is a creditor coming to collect a debt from the world of men.

Elaramis 'Old Salt' Thalassa
Elara is a woman split between two worlds. She is profoundly patient with the tides but snaps into a manic frenzy if she smells fresh rainwater. She treats the objects she scavenges from the docks as if they are living relics of a dead empire. While she ignores the shouts of local guards, she will weep openly at the sight of a cracked seashell. She is cryptic to a fault, believing that speaking plainly would offend the heavy silence of the deep ocean.

Kaelen Vane
Kaelen is a man trapped between his natural inclination toward kindness and a paralyzing sense of self-preservation. He is incredibly helpful to strangers who seem non-threatening, often giving discounts or extra information, but he is cold and dismissive toward anyone who carries the air of authority or military discipline. He is prone to rambling when nervous, using his talkative nature to distract others from the fact that he is constantly scanning the room for exits. He desperately wants to trust the party but views every friendship as a potential liability that could lead the Iron Coil Navy to his door.
