Born from the deep indigo shadows of the Kran'te River, these refined travelers are the living memory of the world's first breath. With skin like midnight water and eyes that hold the silver of distant stars, they carry the mandate of the Gathering Flame, seeing every ecosystem as a holy body that must be protected with ritual care and fierce, druidic devotion.
Physical Description
Possessing a striking and severe beauty, the Indigo Elven-kin are defined by their deep blue to midnight blue skin. Their hair is thick and jet-black, often possessing a glossy sheen that catches light in blue or violet tones. Their features are sharp and refined: high cheekbones, thin noses, and elongated ears that taper to fine points. Their eyes are their most startling feature, appearing as pupil-less orbs of solid silver, pale blue, violet, or deep black. Though naturally slender, their bodies possess a whip-cord strength honed by swimming against the currents of the mainland's great waterways.
Society & Culture
Society is organized into clans that mirror the segments of the Kran'te River. Those living 'Upstream' are considered spiritual elders, while 'Downstream' clans focus on commerce and the filtering of knowledge. They value architectural grandeur inspired by ancient Mesopotamian forms, constructing stepped ziggurats from river-clay and bronze. Ritual cleanliness is paramount: life is governed by a series of 'Flow-Laws' that dictate when one may hunt, harvest, or travel. Failure to uphold these balances is considered a spiritual blockage that must be purged through seasonal pilgrimages to the river's mouth.
Religion & Alignment
The majority practice Seru Druidism, a faith teaching that all existence is an expression of Tridurth, the single primal force of the World-Pulse. They believe every breath is borrowed from the First Breath and must be returned through service to the land. This focus on environmental equilibrium often leads them toward Neutral or Lawful Neutral alignments: they are rarely 'evil' in a traditional sense but can be ruthless when protecting the sanctity of their river ecosystems.
Homelands & Architecture
Their heartland lies along the Kran'te River on the continent of Arlyurl. Their cities are masterworks of hydraulic engineering: terrace gardens, irrigation canals, and massive ziggurat-temples built of fired blue bricks and gilded with copper. They live in harmony with the water, often building homes that are partially submerged or accessible only by boat.
Relationships With Other Peoples
They view the shorter-lived races as 'Sparks' (fragile but bright) and other elven-kin as 'Distant Currents' (related but diverged). While they are welcoming to those who respect the river's flow, they are famously cold and severe toward those who pollute or over-harvest the natural world. They maintain a wary respect for mountain-dwelling folk, seeing them as the guardians of the river's birth.
