The Vylthari are titans of obsidian and ember, four-armed survivors of the world's deepest furnaces. Playing one means wielding the crushing weight of the earth and the unstoppable fury of a pyroclastic flow; you are a literal force of nature walking among smaller, fragile mortals.

A Vylthari's body is composed of dense, charcoal-colored musculature and plates of natural obsidian. Their most striking feature is their four arms; two primary limbs of immense strength and two secondary limbs for precision. Fissures in their skin glow with the orange-red light of internal magma, pulsing in time with their slow, heavy heartbeat. Their heads are crowned with backward-swept horns made of cooled basalt, and their eyes are solid gold or burning copper orbs that pierce through thick smoke.

Vylthari society is organized around the Great Caldrons, city-states built directly into the rims of active volcanoes. They value stoicism and the ability to endure extreme pressure, both physical and social. Their culture is one of extreme craftsmanship; because they can manipulate heat with their bodies, they are among the world's finest smiths and glassblowers. They view 'surface-dwellers' as fleeting and fragile, much like the steam that rises from a cooling lava flow.

Most Vylthari worship the Primal Heart, the living core of the world. They generally lean toward Lawful Neutral or Neutral alignments, following the slow, inevitable cycles of geology rather than the chaotic whims of mortal politics. They believe in the 'Tempering,' a philosophy stating that all life must be burned away of its impurities to reveal its true strength.

Their architecture consists of vast, seamless stone structures carved directly from the bedrock. They use gravity and flowing magma as both heat sources and decorative elements. Doors are massive slabs of basalt that require immense strength to move, and furniture is rarely padded, as Vylthari prefer the unyielding support of cold stone.

They maintain distant but respectful trade relations with dwarf-like mountain folk and various subterranean goblin-kin. They often find the lifespan of human-like races distressingly short, leading them to be slow to form friendships. However, once a bond is forged, it is as permanent as a mountain range.
