Verdant Rillkin are beast-folk whose features reflect the forest animals from which their lineages descend. All have expressive ears, sharp but varied teeth, flexible hands, and eyes adapted to dim woodland light. Their coats, scales, feathers, or patterned skin range from russet and dappled brown to fern green, charcoal, cream, and rain-dark blue. Many grow whiskers, small antlers, crests, tails, or patches of mosslike hair. Their bodies are light and agile, though some lineages are powerfully built. Rillkin adorn themselves with beads, carved seeds, feathers, shed antlers, and dyed fibers, favoring objects gathered respectfully rather than manufactured in bulk.

Rillkin society is organized around hearth-clans, seasonal gatherings, and relationships with particular watersheds or groves. Each clan maintains an oral archive of migrations, marriages, disasters, treaties, and debts. Children are raised communally, while adults usually specialize as pathfinders, root-healers, craftworkers, beast-speakers, wardens, or memory-keepers.
