World Atlas·Sphere·A broken perfect world where ley lines power the future and the ruins still remember the past.
trade route and power source · Aether-lit salt flats
Hook
Engine caravans race here to charge their cores before the storms arrive.
Aesos was built as an experiment in making a perfect world, then broken by its own hidden flaws. Humanity inherited the ruins, learned to read the Tetrachoir, and turned aether into magitech that reshaped daily life and warfare. Now the planet balances on invention, greed, and memory, while old systems still hum beneath new cities.
Themes
Form · Sphere
Aesos is a single earthlike sphere wrapped in a planetwide ley lattice that can be sensed, measured, and exploited. Its surface was once orderly, but the Sundering bent the network and left continents and cities as surviving islands of history.
Traversal
Travel follows roads, seas, airships, and ley jumps between stable nodes. Magitech engines can ride the Tetrachoir, but long crossings require charts, permits, or risky improvisation.

The price of Aether
Unchecked extraction could poison whole regions and wake the dead systems below.
The old world versus the new
The truth of the Architect could unite Aesos or break its fragile peace.
Expand aether infrastructure and keep the new boom under human control.
Map, guard, and tax all ley crossings.
Preserve the ruins and forbid reckless digging.
Turn aether into wealth before anyone else can regulate it.

The Architect seeded Aesos as a planned world of balanced climates, linked cities, and obedient skies. Proto-civilizations rose around the Tetrachoir, but the system hid flaws in its keyed design and began to fracture under stress.
The ley web misfired, continents shifted, and the old powers fell in weeks. Surviving peoples scavenged what remained of the first cities while the planet relearned itself through ruin, migration, and war.
Humans became the dominant makers, traders, and ruin delvers. They learned to tap the Tetrachoir directly, turning broken inheritance into practical power and building new city-states around old failures.
Aether has changed everything, fueling engines, lamps, weapons, and surgery. The new magitech age is rich with invention and fear, as every advance also stirs the old fractures and the question of who should control the planet's hidden backbone.
A dead relay station has started broadcasting coordinates to places that do not exist on any map.
Aether sickness is spreading through a district that sits on a major ley knot, and the cure may be in a sealed proto-city vault.
A guild charter claims ownership of a vital ley bridge, but the old claim was signed by a ruler who died before the Sundering.
Engineers have found a working builder machine that keeps asking for the Architect, as if the world is still under construction.
The Architect left a failsafe under the Tetrachoir, but no one knows whether it restores the planet or locks it into obedience.
Discovery · A repeating pattern appears in old maps, machine songs, and star charts.
Impact · The world may have been built with a hidden repair path that can either heal or finish the Sundering.
Human burial customs accidentally stabilized parts of the ley web after the Sundering.
Discovery · Aether anomalies cluster around graves of the oldest human dynasties.
Impact · The dead may be feeding the lattice, making ancestor rites a source of real power.
Some ruins are not ruins at all, but dormant civic minds waiting for a valid command.
Discovery · Certain proto-cities awaken only when spoken to in the builder tongue.
Impact · A living remnant of the first civilization still judges who is worthy to inherit Aesos.
