The World

The Vale of the Broken Crown is a long river valley trapped between two mountain walls and two wounded heirs. The north holds the passes with soldiers and watchfires; the south feeds the land with orchards, grain, and river trade. In the center stands a great monastery-cathedral where law, prayer, and rumor meet. All of it lives under a curse tied to the queen's execution and the fear that she will be born again.

The Ages

  1. One Valley Crown

    Before the Split

The valley was once ruled as a single kingdom that controlled the passes, the farms, and the river trade, with the cathedral-monastery acting as both shrine and court.

  2. The Bitter Divide

    After the Execution

The queen was hanged for witchcraft while the king marched north, and the two sons split the realm between wrath and restraint as the land itself began to sour.

  3. The Waiting Years

    Present Age

Both halves now endure border raids, bad harvests, and prophetic fear, while common folk whisper that the dead queen will be born again to judge them all.
