Hook
A royal capital is built around the first stone used to fix a border, but the stone has begun to crack.
The Measured World is a sphere where geography obeys accepted records. A road becomes straight when surveyed, a river may change course when a treaty redraws its banks, and a town can wake beyond a border it crossed only on paper. Most magic is therefore controlled by surveyors, judges, map printers, and armies. The old peace is failing as rival powers uncover contradictory maps, while ordinary people struggle to keep homes, farms, and graves on the same side of reality.
