Detection
“Large violet-colored mushrooms with translucent caps that reveal swirling mists inside. They rhythmically expand and contract like a breathing lung.”
Standard Engagement
A creature comes within 10 feet of the pods or makes a loud noise (such as shouting or heavy combat) within 20 feet.
None
The pods regrow and refill with gas over the course of 24 hours if the root system remains intact.
When triggered, the pods explode in a 15 foot radius cloud of purple mist. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 14 (4d6) psychic damage and is Confused (as per the spell) until the end of its next turn. On a success, the creature takes half damage and is not confused.
While a creature is inside the spore cloud, it cannot hear any other sounds and is considered Deafened until it leaves the area. The air is filled with the sound of thousands of overlapping voices.
