The Chrono-Lock Piston Hall
A long corridor where the floor consists of interlocking brass plates. Below the surface, massive copper-bound pistons are synchronized to a rhythmic central gear heart. When triggered, the floor plates retract and the pistons slam upward with enough force to crush stone.

Detection
“The floor plates are polished brass, etched with intricate celestial maps. Every few seconds, a low hum vibrates through the soles of anyone standing in the hallway.”
Standard Engagement
The trap is triggered when more than 20 pounds of weight is placed on a pressure-sensitive brass plate.
None
The trap automatically resets after 1 minute as the pistons retract and the plates slide back into place.
When triggered, the plates slide open and a heavy piston strikes. Each creature in the 10-foot-square area must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 22 (4d10) bludgeoning damage and is knocked prone. On a success, the creature takes half damage and is not knocked prone.
A creature that spends at least 1 minute observing the hall can make a DC 15 Intelligence check. On a success, they learn the timing of the pistons. They have advantage on the Dexterity saving throw to avoid the trap's effects.
