A massive, twenty foot diameter golden coin stands on its edge in the middle of a narrow mountain pass, spinning with impossible speed yet creating no wind. It serves as the literal gatekeeper to the Temple of Unbound Fate, judging the worth and luck of those who seek the goddess.

“The coin is polished to a mirror sheen, reflecting the surrounding peaks. One side depicts the serene face of the Goddess of Fortune, while the other shows a cracked, weeping skull representing a 'bad break.' The coin emits a rhythmic, metallic hum that vibrates in the teeth of those nearby.”
Standard Engagement
The coin activates when a creature moves within 15 feet of it without first speaking a prayer to the goddess or offering a gold coin to the mountain's chasm.
Once triggered, the coin spins into a blurring whirlwind of golden light and releases a pulse of fate-warped energy before resetting after 1 minute.
The hazard resets automatically after 1 hour if it is not disabled or if the 'price of entry' is not paid.
When triggered, the coin emits a 30 foot cone of golden radiance. Each creature in that area must make a DC 18 Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 55 (10d10) radiant damage and is cursed with 'Foul Luck' for 1 hour. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and is not cursed. While cursed with Foul Luck, any time the creature rolls a 20 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, they must reroll the die and use the new result.
If a creature approaches the coin and voluntarily chooses to take a -5 penalty to their saving throw, and they succeed, they are granted a 'Fortune Token.' This token allows the creature to turn one failed saving throw into a success within the next 24 hours while inside the temple.
