Detection
“A jagged, translucent violet quartz shard the size of a human skull hangs from a stalactite by a cord of braided human hair. It drips a viscous black ichor that evaporates into a faint purple mist before hitting the floor.”
Standard Engagement
A creature moves within 15 feet of the crystal or touches the braided cord.
None
The chime requires 1 hour to absorb enough ambient psychic energy from the cavern to trigger again.
When triggered, the chime emits a silent, bone-rattling pulse of psychic energy. All creatures within a 30-foot burst must attempt a DC 25 Will save. Critical Success: The creature is unaffected. Success: The creature takes 2d10+5 mental damage. Failure: The creature takes 4d10+10 mental damage and is Stupefied 1 for 1 minute. Critical Failure: The creature takes 8d10+20 mental damage and is Stupefied 2 for 10 minutes.
Because of the cavern's acoustics, the psychic pulse travels further than expected. Creatures between 31 and 60 feet of the chime must succeed at a DC 20 Will save or be Dazzled for 1 round as psychic fractals dance across their vision.
If a creature is currently suffering from a bleed effect or has less than half their maximum Hit Points when the hazard triggers, they take a -2 circumstance penalty to their Will save.
