The Whisper-Bound Thicket
A cursed clearing where a dark ritual bound the final screams of cult victims into the very wood of the trees. The spirits here are trapped in a loop of perpetual agony, seeking to drag others into their silent suffering.

Defenses
Detection
“The trees in this circular grove have bark that resembles grey, taut skin, and their branches end in finger-like twigs. Dried blood stains the roots of a central, stump-like altar that glows with a faint, sickly green light at night.”
Standard Engagement
A living creature enters the center of the clearing or touches the central stump altar.
None
The haunt resets after 1 hour as the residual psychic energy pools back into the roots.
The haunt erupts in a cacophony of spectral screaming. Each creature within 20 feet must attempt a DC 21 Will save. On a failure, the creature takes 4d6 mental damage and is Frightened 1 (or 8d6 mental damage and Frightened 2 on a critical failure). On a success, the creature takes half damage and is not frightened.
While Frightened by this haunt, a creature hears the rhythmic chanting of the cult in their mind, making them Stupefied 1 until the Frightened condition ends.
