Whispering Spore Veils
Clusters of translucent, white fungal veils hanging from the ceiling like delicate cobwebs that shimmer with a faint bioluminescence.

Defenses
Detection
“The veils look like wispy curtains of lace. Tiny violet nodes along the strands pulse with a rhythmic light that matches the frequency of a slow heartbeat.”
Standard Engagement
A creature moves within 5 feet of the veils or makes a sound louder than a whisper within 10 feet.
None
The fungi regrow their spore nodes over a period of 24 hours.
When triggered, the veil releases a cloud of spores in a 10 foot radius. Each creature in that area must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 11 (2d10) psychic damage and is poisoned for 1 minute. While poisoned this way, the creature is also frightened of the veils. On a success, the creature takes half damage and is not poisoned or frightened.
Any sound made within 30 feet of the veils is repeated 1 round later as a distorted whisper, requiring a DC 12 Wisdom (Insight) check to realize the sound is artificial.
