A dense patch of forest floor where the tree roots have fused with lightning-glass (fulgurite) from an elemental storm. The roots act as organic capacitors, storing a lethal electrical charge that releases upon physical contact.

The root web draws static electricity from the atmosphere, regaining its full charge 1 hour after it has been discharged.
When a creature triggers the hazard, the roots release a burst of lightning. The creature must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, the creature takes 14 (4d6) lightning damage and is knocked prone. On a success, the creature takes half as much damage and is not knocked prone.
Any creature wearing armor made of metal makes the Dexterity saving throw against this hazard with disadvantage.
If a gallon or more of water is poured onto the roots, they discharge immediately. Every creature within 10 feet must make the saving throw as if they had stepped on the roots.
