Pip Braghkess
Commoner
Pip Braghkess
Species
Rock Gnome
Appearance
Pip is a compact rock gnome with a sharply pressed silhouette and the restless energy of a kettle just before boiling. His slicked-back copper hair is held in place with egg white, giving it a glassy sheen, while his broad ears are nicked from years of working around hot machinery. His face is narrow, expressive, and usually dusted with a pale crescent of flour beneath one eye. He moves in quick, exact bursts, stopping so abruptly that his coat tails continue swaying after he has gone still. His brass goggles are always perched on his forehead, their lenses fogged from the inside despite never covering his eyes. Unexpectedly, Pip has the soft, gentle hands of a concert pianist, and he handles fragile pastries with more tenderness than he shows most living people.
“His voice is bright, rapid, and nasal, with clipped consonants and sudden bursts of Levantine-flavored emphasis. He speaks as though every sentence is racing a timer.”

Distinguishing Features
Brass goggles with permanently fogged inner lenses
A pale flour mark beneath his left eye that returns even after washing
A narrow burn scar across the fingertips of his right hand
A silver whisk brooch inherited from his mother
His coat smells faintly of cardamom, hot metal, and rain-soaked stone
Voice
“A quick, reedy tenor with a metallic edge, like a spoon striking a copper bowl. His laughter comes out as three clipped bursts, while sincere affection makes his voice unexpectedly quiet.”
Clothing
A charcoal waistcoat beneath a cream laboratory coat with copper stitching, sharply creased trousers, polished ankle boots, a red neckcloth pinned with a tiny silver whisk, heat-resistant gloves tucked into his belt, and brass goggles permanently resting on his forehead.
Body Language
Pip leans forward as if perpetually being pulled by an invisible string. His fingers tap measurements against his palm, his head jerks toward every unfamiliar sound, and his goggles rise and fall with his eyebrows. When genuinely compassionate, he becomes unusually still and places both hands flat on the nearest table.
