Appearance
Jorren is a lean, weather-beaten man whose movements still carry the careful economy of a practiced scout, though every turn is interrupted by pain from the wound beneath his ribs. His skin is browned by western sun and mapped with pale scars, while his left shoulder hangs slightly lower than the right. His hair is clipped close with a knife, but a single stubborn lock curls over his forehead in a neat black hook. He has a narrow face, cracked lips, and an expression that shifts between sharp alertness and feverish wonder. His hands are callused, stained with old tinctures, and constantly searching for edges, seams, and loose stones. The unexpected contradiction is his smile: when frightened or delirious, he smiles with the serene politeness of someone welcoming guests into his own home.
“Usually low, clipped, and practical, with a faint western cadence. He pauses before nouns when feverish, as though listening for the correct word from someone standing just out of sight.”

Distinguishing Features
A branching scar runs from his right collarbone to the lower ribs, glowing faintly blue when he dreams.
The nails of his left hand are ridged like tiny overlapping scales.
He has a small brass button sewn into his left ear, taken from his sister's coat.
His shadow sometimes bends toward the sealed satchel even when the lantern light comes from the opposite direction.
Voice
“A dry baritone made rough by fever, with sudden precise whispers when he describes the underground city.”
Clothing
A stained infirmary shirt beneath a patched scout's jerkin, loose linen trousers, wool socks, and a broad leather belt missing two buckles. His boots remain beside the bed, cleaned and ready despite his inability to walk far.
Body Language
Jorren keeps his back to a wall and his injured side protected by one arm. When concentrating, he taps two fingers against his thigh in a slow pattern of three taps, then two. During fever spikes, he reaches toward the floor as if feeling vibrations through the stone.
