Garruk “Half-Sigh” Rhem
Fighter, Battle Master
Garruk “Half-Sigh” Rhem
Species
Hobgoblin
Appearance
Garruk Rhem is a wiry hobgoblin with the compact strength of a man who has spent decades carrying armor and pretending not to notice the weight. His rust-red skin is weathered at the knuckles and creased around his half-lidded amber eyes. A narrow scar cuts through his left eyebrow, while a softer, stranger mark circles his throat like a pale collar. His ears are nicked, his nose has been broken twice, and his black hair is shaved close except for a thin gray topknot tied with red thread. He usually reclines in a battered wooden chair with his armor loosened at the collar and his boots propped on a scarred table. He appears lazy until something changes in the room. Then he moves with startling precision, every step economical, every gesture already decided. The unexpected softness of his hands, carefully moisturized with lavender oil, contrasts sharply with his smoke-rough voice and battlefield manner.
“His voice is low, gravelly, and smoke-rough, with long pauses that make every sentence sound considered. He speaks slowly enough to frustrate hurried people and quietly enough to make them lean closer.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale scar encircles his throat like a collar.
His left eyebrow is split by a narrow, perfectly straight scar.
His right canine tooth is capped with dull silver.
He smells faintly of bitter leaf smoke, iron polish, and lavender oil.
His chair has a broken armrest repaired with strips of old military banner.
Voice
“A tired, gravelly rasp softened by an occasional dry chuckle. When danger appears, his voice becomes calm, precise, and almost gentle.”
Clothing
Patched charcoal trousers, a faded rust-red sash, soft black boots, and a loose leather brigandine beneath a weather-stained guard cloak. His iron collar is usually unfastened, and one sleeve is pinned back to keep it from catching on the table. A small lavender sachet hangs inside his coat, hidden among spare bowstrings and whetstone dust.
Body Language
Garruk slouches until danger enters the room, then his spine straightens by degrees, like a blade being drawn from a sheath. He taps two fingers against the table when counting exits, rolls one shoulder before violence, and keeps his left hand near his sword even while appearing to smoke. When amused, he lowers his chin and looks at people over the rim of one half-closed eye.
