Empress Kestrid Varkos
Empress of Arcanterra
Empress Kestrid Varkos
Species
Human
Appearance
Kestrid Varkos is tall and finely made, with a narrow, commanding face and the controlled stillness of someone accustomed to being watched. She moves with measured economy, never wasting a gesture, yet her hands become unexpectedly gentle around frightened children, wounded animals, and old servants. Her pale skin carries a faint network of silvery burn scars along the left side of her neck and collarbone, usually concealed beneath high collars. Her dark copper hair is braided tightly against her skull and gathered into a long, heavy plait threaded with tiny brass sun-discs. Her eyes are a clear blue-gray, but one pupil is slightly larger than the other, a lasting mark of an old assassination attempt. She leaves behind the impressions of polished metal, warm candlewax, and distant thunder.
“Her voice is low, clear, and almost musical, with clipped consonants and a faint northern cadence. She never rushes a sentence.”

Voice
“Quiet, resonant, and controlled, with the authority of a bell heard through stone.”
Clothing
She wears a high-collared gown of midnight blue velvet beneath a fitted ceremonial coat of ivory silk, both reinforced with hidden leather panels. Fine gold embroidery traces seven rising suns along the cuffs. Her boots are soft-soled for silent movement, and a narrow crimson sash identifies her as the ruling sovereign. Her jewelry is sparse except for a silver sunburst ring and a small iron locket worn beneath her clothing.
Body Language
Kestrid stands with her shoulders square and her chin slightly lowered, as if listening to a distant bell. Her right thumb often rubs the edge of her silver signet when she is concealing fear. In private, fatigue loosens her posture dramatically, and she folds over tables like a soldier finally removing armor.
