Vaelis is a tall, narrow-shouldered half-elf with the poised stillness of a drawn blade. His skin has the warm gray tone of old parchment, crossed by fine silver scars that form almost perfect geometric lines along his throat, wrists, and cheekbones. His black hair is slicked back with scented oil, though a single white lock always falls over his left eye no matter how carefully he pins it. His movements are economical and nearly silent, each turn of the wrist seeming rehearsed for an audience. He leaves an impression of immaculate control, yet his hands are stained permanently with bright blue ink, as if he has just finished signing a child's birthday card.
