Appearance
Elira Vance looks enough like the infamous Sable Vance to make old spies stare twice. She has the same narrow, foxlike face, the same pale crescent scar beneath her left eye, and the same habit of watching a room before entering it. Her movements are quiet but never delicate. She prowls with the loose, balanced gait of someone accustomed to rooftops, scree slopes, and frozen river ice. Her skin is warm bronze, her hair falls in black curls threaded with premature silver, and her eyes are mismatched, one moss green and one smoky blue. The unexpected contradiction is her smile. It is broad, sincere, and almost disarming, completely at odds with the reputation of her family. She leaves behind the impression of a friendly traveler who has already memorized every exit.

Elira rarely stands squarely toward another person. She angles her body toward the nearest exit, rests two fingers against her belt, and tilts her mismatched eyes as if listening to a sound no one else can hear. When genuinely amused, she leans forward and forgets to guard her injured left side.
