Serevane, Keeper of Chains
Divine Warden
Serevane, Keeper of Chains
Species
Outsider
Appearance
Serevane appears as a tall, austere outsider wrapped in the impression of a storm held perfectly still. Their skin resembles pale slate polished by rain, but fine golden cracks move beneath it like light trapped under ice. Six thin chains emerge from the base of their skull and trail behind them, never touching the ground, each link engraved with a promise that no living mortal can read. Their movements are measured and economical, with no wasted gesture, yet their shadow frequently moves a heartbeat before they do. They carry the severe presence of a judge and the unexpectedly gentle hands of a caretaker, with broad palms marked by tiny scars from cutting chains away from prisoners who begged for freedom.
“A low, resonant voice with the controlled cadence of a formal verdict. Every sentence sounds deliberate, and even kindness carries the weight of an agreement.”

Distinguishing Features
Six floating chains emerge from the base of their skull and bear constantly changing inscriptions.
Their shadow moves a heartbeat before their body.
A narrow crack of warm gold runs from their left temple to their jaw.
Their left hand is always slightly colder than the rest of their body.
Their reflection appears wearing a different set of chains, hinting at promises Serevane has failed to keep.
Voice
“A low, resonant voice with the controlled cadence of a formal verdict. Every sentence sounds deliberate, and even kindness carries the weight of an agreement. When genuinely amused, Serevane's voice produces a soft metallic chime that makes nearby chains tremble.”
Clothing
A layered mantle of charcoal-gray cloth, oil-dark leather, and tarnished gold plates. The garment is fastened with seven clasps, each representing a kind of promise: blood, shelter, silence, service, truth, remembrance, and return. Beneath the mantle they wear a plain linen tunic, an unexpectedly humble choice that looks almost domestic beside their divine armor.
Body Language
Serevane stands perfectly upright, often resting one hand over the opposite wrist as though checking for an invisible manacle. Their chains tighten when they distrust someone and loosen when they feel sympathy. They kneel only beside the wounded, the dead, or a person making a sincere promise.
