Appearance
Mavuto Kresnik is a lean human man with the weathered, salt-dried look of someone who has spent more time on roads and riverbanks than indoors. His skin is deep umber, roughened across the knuckles and cheeks by old windburn. His black hair is cut close on one side and left in a loose, uneven fall on the other, threaded with a single copper bead that clicks softly when he turns his head. His left eye is dark brown, while his right is clouded pale blue from a magical accident, yet he navigates with unnerving confidence. He moves with a slow, almost sleepy patience until danger appears, at which point he becomes startlingly precise, folding his body around attacks like a dancer avoiding rain. The contradictory impression he leaves is of a tired, gentle traveler who somehow makes every room feel as though it is being measured for an escape route.
“His voice is low, dry, and measured, with a warm river-country cadence beneath precise Collegium diction. He pauses before important nouns, as if checking whether the word is safe to use.”

Distinguishing Features
A clouded pale-blue right eye that reflects candlelight like frosted glass.
A copper bead woven into the left side of his hair, taken from his brother's broken compass.
Fine white scars across both palms from sealing the Oru-Mbali cave-in.
A brass compass whose needle points toward unresolved problems.
His shadow sometimes points in a different direction from his body when he is near ancient magic.
Voice
“A quiet baritone with a dry rasp, like reeds rubbing together in a river wind. His laughter is sudden, bright, and surprisingly youthful.”
Clothing
A faded indigo travel coat patched with strips of red sailcloth, loose sand-colored trousers, soft leather boots, and a sleeveless vest covered in tiny stitched symbols marking rivers, ruined roads, and places where people disappeared. He wears a brass compass around his neck, but the needle points toward the nearest unresolved problem rather than north.
Body Language
He keeps his shoulders slightly rounded and rests both hands on his walking stick, giving the impression of frailty. When concentrating, he straightens completely and holds his head at an angle toward his clouded eye. He gestures with two fingers when describing routes, tracing invisible lines through the air.
