The Hexad
Origin
In the beginning there was one Creator seated upon the Throne of the Universe. Whether from compassion, pride, or exhaustion, the Creator divided itself into six aspects to touch the world more intimately, leaving the throne empty and the cosmos unfinished. Each aspect became a deity, and their disagreement over what the Creator intended became the basis of worship, law, and myth.
Cosmology
Reality is structured as six interlocking currents that once flowed from a singular divine source: growth and ending, shelter and passion, making and knowing, violence and weather, wildness and daylight, chance and guile. The gods are not distant absolutes but surviving facets of one original mind, each incomplete without the others. The empty throne at the center of the cosmos is a metaphysical wound and a promise: if all six aspects are reconciled, the universe may either be healed into unity or remade into something mortal hearts can bear. Mortals matter because they are the only beings capable of choosing among the six patterns in everyday life.
Structure
The religion is organized as a federation of six interdependent temples rather than a single church. Each temple specializes in one paired domain but must maintain ritual ties to at least one ally temple and formal hospitality to its designated rival. Local shrines often combine two or more aspects, reflecting the belief that mortals thrive when the divine remains in conversation. Councils of priests arbitrate doctrine, but no council may meet without offerings to the Empty Throne in the center of the chamber.
Mortal Relations
The Hexad is deeply involved in mortal affairs: temples double as clinics, granaries, courts, observatories, barracks, groves, and festival halls. Clergy are expected to solve practical problems, not merely perform rites, and each deity answers petitions through dreams, omens, sacred weather, and miraculous coincidences. Ordinary people appeal to different gods across a single lifetime, treating religion as a living civic force rather than a distant mystery.
Afterlife
The dead pass beyond the broken throne into the Quiet Hall, a moonless shore where each soul is sorted by the six aspects that once made the Creator whole. Those who honored Love and Protection are sheltered in the Lantern Courts; those shaped by War and Storm are tested on the Thunder Steps; those bound to Knowledge and Creation walk the Archive Foundry; those of Life and Nature rest in the Verdant Burial; the cunning and the fated linger at the Knot of Masks; and the lost or unclaimed wait in the Empty Seat, where none may sit. The afterlife is not final annihilation but a waiting-room for renewal, judgment, and eventual return.
