When Marduk raised the ordered heavens from the ruins of primordial chaos, the first light of the firmament split into twelve living aspects, each sworn to defend civilization from the whispers below. These became the Scions of Light, a divine assembly charged with reading the stars, guarding the cities, and teaching mortals how to live in harmony with the Heavenly Will.

Above the world turns the Ordered Firmament, a layered sky of seven luminous spheres and twelve sign-houses. The stars are not random lights but living script, each constellation a syllable in the Heavenly Will. Beneath the world lurks the Abyssal Instinct, a formless whisper that urges hunger, chaos, and lonely power; it cannot be destroyed, only bound by prayer, law, and rightly timed acts of compassion. Between heaven and abyss stands the mortal realm, entrusted to the Scions of Light as gardeners, judges, and keepers of the signs.

The faith is organized like a temple-city: Utu-Mesh and Sinara preside over the high sanctuaries, while each lower deity governs a specialized house, archive, ward, or healing hall. Priesthoods are collegial rather than hierarchical, with astrologer-scribes, judges, guardians, and healers meeting in rotating councils. Local temples are often built as ziggurats with observatories on the upper terraces and public courts on the lower levels, embodying the belief that heaven must be visible and civility must be lived.

Mortals are regarded as junior partners in the Heavenly Will: beloved, fallible, and capable of building civilization through discipline and compassion. Priests, magistrates, farmers, healers, and travelers are all seen as sacred laborers. The Scions of Light prefer omens, dreams, and lawful institutions to direct miracles, and they answer best to communities that keep records, respect timing, and practice hospitality.

The faithful are escorted by the Scions of Light through the Star-Gates to the Lantern Courts, a serene celestial city where artisans, scribes, judges, and farmers continue their work in blessed harmony. Souls who lived by sign, measure, and mercy are welcomed into registered households under the patronage of Sinara and Belat-En. The impure and oath-breakers are not tormented, but are purified in the Dawn Wells until they can stand before the Heavenly Ledger.
