Koresh Daryan
Fighter
Koresh Daryan
Species
Half-Orc
Appearance
Koresh is a broad-shouldered half-orc with a face shaped by wind, salt, and too many close calls. His tightly pulled black braids are bound with copper wire and small knots of blue sailcloth, each one marking a voyage he survived. A pale scar cuts through his left eyebrow and disappears beneath the lid, leaving that eye slightly narrowed even when he is amused. His green-gray skin is roughened at the knuckles and freckled with old sunburn. He moves with a sailor's rolling balance on land, but aboard ship he becomes unnervingly still, as if the deck is carrying him rather than the other way around. His tusks are filed blunt for practicality, yet his hands are gentle enough to mend a gull's broken wing. The contradiction is most striking when he smiles: his stern expression makes him look ready to order a hanging, while the smile itself is warm, frequent, and entirely sincere.
“His voice is low, gravelly, and controlled, with the clipped rhythm of shouted orders carried over wind. He pronounces names carefully, especially names he respects.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale scar through the left eyebrow and over the eyelid.
Tightly pulled braids bound with copper wire and blue sailcloth.
Blunt-filed tusks and a surprisingly gentle smile.
A missing tip on the right little finger from a snapped line.
A tattoo of three black gulls on his inner wrist, one for each sailor he rescued from the Kindly Debt wreck.
Voice
“A deep, rough baritone that carries across a deck without sounding like a shout. His laugh is short, surprised, and immediately followed by a stern smile.”
Clothing
A salt-stiffened navy coat over a sleeveless canvas shirt, reinforced trousers tucked into tarred sea boots, a broad leather belt, fingerless gloves, and a red sash used to bind wounds or mark a line in an emergency. His coat has been carefully patched with scraps from old sails.
Body Language
Koresh stands with his feet planted wide and his shoulders relaxed, constantly making tiny balance corrections even on solid ground. When listening, he tilts his scarred eye toward the speaker and folds his arms over his chest. His stern smile arrives suddenly, like a hatch opening in rough seas. When frightened, he becomes very still and starts rubbing the copper wire in one of his braids.
