Appearance
Nadim is a broad-shouldered human with the compact strength of someone who has spent half a lifetime lifting iron rather than posing with it. His hands are heavily callused, but his fingertips are surprisingly delicate from years of fitting hilts and testing blade balance. He walks with a slight forward lean, as though perpetually listening to the floorboards for a loose nail. His face is gentle and almost scholarly until danger appears, when his expression becomes frighteningly still. The unexpected contradiction is his careful, ornamental grooming: he keeps one side of his mustache waxed into a neat curl while the other side is usually singed, dusty, or stained with oil. He leaves people with the impression of a kindly uncle who might also know exactly where to place a hammer to break a wrist.
“His voice is low, rounded, and unhurried, with a soft rasp from years around smoke and furnaces. He speaks in careful, practical sentences and rarely raises his volume.”

Distinguishing Features
A narrow white scar runs from his left temple to the corner of his mouth.
His right thumbnail is permanently darkened by forge soot that no soap can remove.
He wears a small copper eagle charm hammered flat beneath his collar.
One of his front teeth is capped with dull silver after a horse kicked him during militia service.
His left ear is pierced with three tiny iron rings, each taken from a fallen comrade's broken armor.
Voice
“Warm baritone with a smoke-softened edge, gentle when speaking to frightened people and unnervingly precise when addressing a threat.”
Clothing
A smoke-brown wool vest over a cream linen shirt, reinforced blue trousers, a red waist sash used to hold measuring cords, and a leather apron patched with scraps of cavalry tack. Beneath the apron he wears a fitted mail shirt. His boots are soft-soled for moving quietly across the shop floor.
Body Language
Nadim rests his thumbs against his belt when listening, tilts his head toward suspicious sounds, and unconsciously tests nearby surfaces for sturdiness. In conversation he often turns objects over in his hands, not from nervousness but to judge their balance. When he lies, he becomes perfectly motionless.
