Mahir Aulavari
Wizard, School of Abjuration
Mahir Aulavari
Species
Elf
Appearance
Mahir is a tall, narrow-shouldered elf whose movements are slow only until magic is involved. Then his hands become startlingly precise, each finger cutting the air like a scribe correcting a sacred text. His face is deeply lined around the mouth and eyes, but his skin remains smooth at the temples, giving him the unsettling impression of aging in separate directions. He carries himself with the fragile dignity of a dying tree, yet his gaze has the alertness of a hunting bird. He smells faintly of cedar smoke, lamp oil, and winter apples.
“His voice is low, dry, and beautifully controlled, with a faint northern lilt. He pronounces names carefully, as if each one were a spell that should not be damaged.”

Distinguishing Features
A narrow scar crosses his left palm in the shape of a branching tree.
His left ear is pierced by a small silver ring bearing the symbol of a shield around a world tree.
One of his eyes is gray-green, while the other has a faint amber ring that brightens near active magic.
His shadow sometimes moves a heartbeat after he does.
The pages of his spellbook turn by themselves when someone nearby lies.
Voice
“Measured and resonant, with a dry warmth beneath the restraint. His normal voice sounds like a man reading beside a winter fire. When angered, he becomes quieter. When Saima speaks through him, a younger echo curls beneath every syllable.”
Clothing
A charcoal wool robe sewn with narrow green lining, layered beneath a sleeveless gray mantle resembling the robes worn by the pillars of the Utvalda. The hem is patched with mismatched pieces of old maps. He wears soft leather boots, fingerless gloves, and a belt carrying seven brass scroll tubes, none of them labeled.
Body Language
He keeps one hand tucked inside his opposite sleeve, thumb rubbing a hidden stitch whenever he is afraid. When someone surprises him emotionally, he tilts his head as if listening to distant rain. In combat, his posture straightens completely and the frailty falls away.
