Kabzrik Mtembeko
Fighter
Kabzrik Mtembeko
Species
Hill Dwarf
Appearance
Kabzrik is a broad-shouldered dwarf with the compact strength of someone raised underground, but he moves with an unexpectedly careful softness, placing each foot as though the floor might be listening. His umber skin is dusted permanently at the knuckles and hairline with pale mineral grit that no washing removes. His beard is thick, tightly braided, and threaded with copper wire, though one side has been shaved close after a mining accident. His left ear is folded at the tip, his nose has been broken twice, and a thin white scar crosses his lower lip. He wears a tiny silver bell beneath his shirt, creating a faint chime whenever he breathes deeply. His hands look like tools, scarred and square, yet he is capable of handling eggs, moths, and frightened children with remarkable delicacy. The first impression he leaves is of a locked door that has decided, cautiously, to open.
“His voice is low, rough, and measured, with a faint rhythmic cadence shaped by Dwarvish and the work songs of mixed mining crews. He speaks plainly, favors concrete images, and leaves deliberate pauses before important words.”

Distinguishing Features
A silver bell sewn beneath his shirt that rings only when he is near black crystal.
A folded left ear with a small copper staple through the upper rim.
A missing section of beard on the right side, replaced by copper wire braids.
White mineral dust permanently embedded in the creases of his hands.
A red surveyor's cord tied around his wrist, bearing three knots for the miners who died in Bellshaft Nine.
Voice
“A resonant baritone with a dry rasp, like gravel sliding inside a bronze bowl; he softens noticeably when speaking to children or animals.”
Clothing
A smoke-gray wool tunic under battered scale armor, reinforced leather trousers, mud-dark boots, a red surveyor's cord wrapped around his left wrist, and a patched green cloak whose hem is sewn with tiny brass washers
Body Language
Kabzrik keeps his elbows close and his chin slightly lowered, as if conserving space. When relaxed, he rolls a copper bead between thumb and forefinger. When angry, he becomes perfectly still except for the tightening of his beard braids. He touches the silver bell beneath his shirt whenever someone mentions missing persons.
