Cursed Witness

Elsin Vey, the White-Eyed Doe

0·Woman·Medium
Neutral Good

Species

Human, partially transformed by fey curse

Appearance

A tall, narrow-shouldered woman with the wary posture of a deer ready to flee, she has a long face, delicate cheekbones, and white eyes clouded like milk beneath moonlight. Her skin is warm brown and textured with faint branching scars that resemble winter twigs. Her dark hair hangs in damp, rope-like strands, threaded with shed deer hair and tiny bones. She moves in sudden, silent starts, never quite placing her heels on the ground. Her hands are human, but the nails are split and blackened into blunt little hooves. The unexpected contradiction is her expression: despite her uncanny eyes and animal-like movements, she smiles with the patient, embarrassed warmth of someone offering tea to a guest.

Height5 feet 9 inches
BuildLean and long-limbed, with the fragile athleticism of a woodland runner
EyesClouded white with silver pupils
HairNear-black brown with gray-white strands
SkinWarm brown with faint gray branching scars

Soft and precise, with long pauses before emotional words. Her voice becomes breathy and animal-like when she speaks to deer, but her ordinary speech carries the steady rhythm of someone reciting directions from memory.”

Distinguishing Features

Milky white eyes with tiny silver pupils that appear only when she experiences strong emotion

Blackened fingernails shaped like blunt hooves

A crescent scar beneath her chin from the shrine's sacrificial stone

A faint scent of wet leaves, woodsmoke, and crushed mint

Her shadow sometimes shows branching antlers even when she has no physical horns

Voice

A low, patient contralto that occasionally breaks into a thin, startled chirp

Clothing

A weather-stained gray cloak stitched from old blankets, a red wool vest faded nearly pink, leather leggings, and one child-sized boot tied over her left foot. The other foot is bare and marked with a dark hoof-shaped birth scar.

Body Language

Her head tilts toward every unfamiliar sound. She keeps her hands folded beneath her sleeves when calm, but spreads her fingers like hooves when frightened. When someone shows genuine kindness, she leans forward before catching herself and retreating half a step.
