Artificer, Battle Smith with custom Clockwork Order features
Veksa
Species
Rock gnome
Appearance
Veksa is a compact gnome woman whose presence feels heavier than her height suggests. Her hands are broad, scarred, and permanently darkened around the nails by oil and powdered silver. She walks with a forward tilt, as if leaning into an invisible wind, and every step produces a faint sequence of clicks from the braces built into her boots. Her face is square and weathered, with a deep crease between the brows and one chipped front tooth that shows whenever she smiles. A strip of pale surgical thread runs from her left ear to her jaw, a reminder of an old workshop explosion. The unexpected contradiction is her softness: she has the careful, almost reverent touch of someone handling sleeping birds, despite looking like she could dismantle a wagon with her bare hands.
“Her voice is low, clipped, and rasped by years of breathing workshop smoke. She speaks in short, complete statements, pauses to select exact words, and occasionally slips into a melodic mountain cadence when discussing home.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin scar runs from her left ear to her jaw, held together by pale surgical thread.
Her left boot contains a visible escapement mechanism that clicks faster when she is anxious.
Her chipped front tooth is capped with a tiny gold gear.
A blue-green enamel mark shaped like a stepped mountain covers her right palm.
She smells faintly of hot metal, bitter tea, and pine resin.
Voice
“Low, rasping, precise, and unexpectedly warm when speaking to apprentices or machines”
Clothing
A soot-gray work coat reinforced with thin copper plates, a wine-red woven sash covered in geometric mountain patterns, reinforced trousers, brass-toed boots, a tool harness, and a high collar lined with tiny calibration needles
Body Language
She plants both feet before making an important statement, rolls a brass ring between thumb and forefinger while thinking, and turns her damaged left ear toward people she distrusts. When genuinely pleased, she briefly forgets to control the ticking of her boot braces.
