Kest Veldt

Level 7·Male·Medium

Species

Elf

Appearance

Kest is a tall, narrow-shouldered elf whose stillness feels more deliberate than natural. His skin has the pale olive tone of old parchment rubbed with green clay, and fine lines gather at the corners of his eyes despite his apparent youth by elven standards. He moves with economical precision, never quite turning his whole body when a glance will do. His hands are elegant but visibly scarred across the knuckles, an incongruous mark on someone known for avoiding public violence. He leaves behind an impression of cold rooms, sealed letters, and a man who has already decided what everyone will do before they enter.

Height6 feet 2 inches
BuildLean and long-limbed, with the wiry strength of a fencer rather than a brawler.
EyesDark hazel with a narrow ring of copper around each iris
HairIron gray with a dark green-black sheen, worn short at the sides and tied at the nape with red thread.
SkinPale olive with a cool gray undertone

His voice is quiet, measured, and rarely hurried. He pronounces every name correctly, including names he dislikes.”

Distinguishing Features

A pale scar crosses the first two knuckles of his left hand.

His left ear is slightly notched from the ambush that changed him.

He wears a ring containing a tiny movable iron key, though no one knows what it opens.

He has an unsettling habit of remembering servants' birthdays but forgetting nobles' titles.

A faint smell of cedar smoke clings to him even after he has spent the day indoors.

Voice

A low, dry tenor with a faint rasp, like a quill dragged across rough paper. Even when speaking softly, he sounds accustomed to being obeyed.

Clothing

He wears a charcoal-green frock coat over a fitted black brigandine vest, high riding boots, and a narrow silver torque engraved with the estate's old boundary stones. His cuffs are fastened with mismatched buttons, one plain iron and one polished pearl.

Body Language

Kest sits with one ankle resting over the opposite knee, his posture relaxed but his hands always visible. When someone lies, he does not stare at them. Instead, he looks at the nearest door. He touches the scar across his left knuckle when considering violence.
