Kaelen Tegir
Ranger, Hunter archetype
Kaelen Tegir
Species
Elf
Appearance
Kaelen is a lean elven man with silver hair cut unevenly around his ears, as if he trims it with a knife while distracted. The left side of his body is visibly decayed from shoulder to ankle. The skin there is gray-brown, dry, and split into plates like old tree bark, with faint green light glowing in the deepest cracks. A few dead-black veins web across his neck and jaw. His right side remains smooth and youthful, creating the unsettling impression that two different ages are sharing one body. He wears brass-rimmed aiming goggles over one eye, but the lenses are scratched and cloudy enough that they look more like a salvaged instrument than a mark of precision. He moves with a quiet, measured economy, favoring his left leg until combat begins, when he becomes startlingly quick. He leaves behind the scent of rain on stone, lamp oil, and crushed mint.
“His voice is low and dry, with a soft musical cadence beneath clipped consonants. He speaks quickly when discussing mechanisms and very slowly when discussing the dead.”

Distinguishing Features
Brass aiming goggles with one blue lens and one smoked lens.
Silver hair that catches on the small hooks of his goggles.
A left side of the body covered in bark-like decayed skin and dim green fissures.
A tiny silver bell sewn into his right cuff that never produces sound.
A pale scar circling his throat where the astrolabe's energy first touched him.
Voice
“A restrained baritone with a faint rasp, as though each word has passed over dry leaves. His healthy side gives his voice warmth, while the rot introduces a hollow undertone that becomes audible when he is exhausted.”
Clothing
A moss-green traveling coat lined with sewn-in pockets, a cream shirt stiffened at the collar, dark leather trousers, soft forest boots, and a stained blue sash holding tools and trinkets. The left sleeve is cut away and replaced with overlapping strips of treated hide, while the right cuff is decorated with tiny silver bells that never seem to ring.
Body Language
Kaelen keeps his healthy shoulder angled toward strangers and his decayed side near walls or furniture. When thinking, he taps the brass frame of his goggles with one fingernail. In danger, his posture straightens completely and his injured side stops limping, making his sudden readiness more disturbing than reassuring.
