Veyra Ash-on-the-Bridge
Barbarian, Path of the Ancestral Guardian
Veyra Ash-on-the-Bridge
Species
Tabaxi
Appearance
Veyra is a long-limbed tabaxi covered in smoke-gray fur marked with irregular copper rosettes that resemble tiny burn scars. Her shoulders are broad from years of hauling cargo, but her movements are nearly silent and unnervingly economical, as if every step has already been rehearsed. A pale stripe runs from her forehead to the tip of her tail, where the fur curls into a white flame. Her left ear is ragged and stitched with red thread. She wears a necklace of cracked porcelain teeth, each one painted with a name. The unexpected contradiction is her hands: enormous, scarred, and built for breaking doors, yet she uses them to mend buttons, braid children's hair, and delicately repair broken music boxes.
“Her voice is low, husky, and unexpectedly soft, with clipped phrases and long pauses. She speaks Common fluently but retains a musical Tabaxi cadence, stretching certain vowels when amused and dropping her voice to a whisper when angry.”

Distinguishing Features
A ragged left ear sewn with red thread.
A white-tipped tail that curls like a flame.
A necklace of painted porcelain teeth, each marked with a dead refugee's name.
Copper-colored rosettes across smoke-gray fur that resemble old burns.
A habit of standing perfectly still before sudden movement.
Voice
“A low contralto with a rough edge, like smoke dragged across stone. When she is calm, every word sounds measured. When she rages, the voice becomes quieter and more precise rather than louder.”
Clothing
She wears a sleeveless indigo traveling coat reinforced with stitched leather panels, loose charcoal trousers, climbing wraps, and a red sash filled with tiny metal tools. Several brass bells hang from the sash, but she has stuffed each one with wax so they make no sound. Her boots are mismatched, one made for wet stone and the other for hot sand.
Body Language
Veyra crouches on the balls of her feet when relaxed and leans forward when suspicious. Her tail coils tightly around one ankle when she is lying. In battle, she becomes eerily still between attacks, with only the tip of her tail moving.
