Vey

Level 1·Female·Medium
Chaotic Neutral

Species

Dustborn Human

Appearance

Vey is a narrow, weather-cut woman with the wiry balance of someone who has spent decades walking across roofs, bones, and collapsed staircases. Her skin is sun-browned and powdered permanently with pale concrete dust, while the backs of her hands are crosshatched with old cuts. She moves in quick, economical bursts, pausing so completely between them that she can seem like another piece of wreckage. Her face is stern and angular, yet she wears a child's red wool mitten tied around her neck like a scarf, an absurdly bright contradiction against her gray rags. She leaves behind an impression of watchfulness, smoke, and rain on hot stone.

Height5 feet 2 inches
BuildLean, sinewy, and underfed, with strong calves and flexible shoulders
EyesClouded amber with a dark ring around the left iris
HairBlack streaked heavily with silver, cut unevenly at jaw length
SkinDeep ochre-brown, weathered and dust-streaked

Her voice is dry and low, with a clipped rhythm shaped by years of shouting over machinery. She pronounces old Qhapan place names carefully, as if each one is a grave marker.”

Distinguishing Features

A red child's mitten tied around her neck

A thin white scar crossing the bridge of her nose

A left ear pierced with a brass washer instead of jewelry

Concrete dust permanently embedded in the lines of her palms

A habit of tilting her head toward distant machinery as if listening to its pulse

Voice

A rasping contralto, usually quiet enough to make listeners lean closer; when angry, every word becomes precise and flat.

Clothing

Layered rags made from flour sacks, faded tent canvas, and strips of insulation cloth. Her knees are wrapped in old map fragments, her feet are bound in tire rubber and braided cord, and the red wool mitten at her throat is carefully mended despite everything else being filthy.

Body Language

Vey keeps one shoulder angled toward the nearest escape route. Her fingers constantly test the edges of objects, checking weight and breakability. When lying, she becomes unusually still and scratches the red mitten with one thumbnail.
