Veyra Quill-in-Rain
Species
Kenku
Appearance
Veyra Quill-in-Rain is a narrow, long-limbed kenku whose movements resemble a page being turned by an unseen breeze. Her black feathers are glossy at the shoulders but weather-frayed around the wings, with silver-gray tips that look dusted in ash. A thin scar cuts across her left beak, and one eye is dark brown while the other is a cloudy pearl-white from an old injury. She keeps her head cocked as though listening to distant music, even during danger. The unexpected contradiction is that her intimidating silhouette is softened by a tiny pink ribbon tied around one ankle, carefully laundered and replaced whenever it becomes dirty. She leaves behind the impression of a storm crow trying very hard to be remembered as a songbird.
“Her natural voice is a husky rasp with a faint metallic resonance. She frequently speaks in borrowed voices, including a magistrate's booming command, a child's whisper, a gull's harsh cry, and the soft cadence of her dead brother.”

A scar across the left side of her beak.
One cloudy pearl-white eye.
Silver-gray feather tips that glint like ash.
A pink ribbon tied around her left ankle.
A collection of tiny brass tuning forks sewn into her belt.

“A rough, controlled rasp surrounded by a constantly shifting chorus of stolen voices”
Clothing
A rain-dark charcoal cloak lined with scraps of red theater curtain, a fitted leather jerkin beneath it, fingerless gloves, soft climbing boots, and a belt of brass tuning forks. Her pink ankle ribbon is the only bright color she wears openly.
Body Language
She leans toward sounds rather than people, taps one claw against her beak when thinking, and folds her wings tightly whenever she feels vulnerable. In combat, she seems to vanish between heartbeats, reappearing at the edge of torchlight.
