Thorgrim Ironmantle
Runemaster
Thorgrim Ironmantle
Species
Mountain Dwarf
Appearance
Thorgrim is a broad-shouldered dwarf whose skin bears the rough, pale texture of weathered granite. His movements are deliberate and economical, but whenever he approaches ancient runes his fingers twitch with eager precision, like a musician hearing a forgotten melody. His beard is braided into nine heavy cords, each wrapped with copper wire and tiny stone tablets. One side of his face is scarred by branching silver lines that glow faintly when the Nexus shudders. He smells of hot iron, rain on stone, and bitter juniper. Despite his intimidating, fortress-like presence, he has an unexpectedly gentle smile reserved for broken tools, injured animals, and frightened apprentices.
“His voice is low, resonant, and measured, with the rumble of a distant forge. He pauses before important nouns, as though weighing them.”

Distinguishing Features
Silver, branching scars across the left side of his face that glow near planar instability.
Nine copper-wrapped beard braids containing fragments of ruined runic tablets.
A missing left thumbnail replaced by a polished piece of blue crystal.
A tiny brass moth that follows him and occasionally records sounds in its wings.
His shadow sometimes points toward the nearest planar rupture instead of following the light.
Voice
“A deep, controlled baritone with a metallic resonance, softened by rare moments of warmth.”
Clothing
A soot-black work coat reinforced with overlapping bronze plates, a slate-gray travel cloak stitched with red warning runes, thick leather gloves, and heavy boots whose soles are engraved with stabilizing sigils. His belt holds measuring cords, chalk, chisels, and small labeled vials of powdered gemstone.
Body Language
Thorgrim plants his feet as if expecting the floor to move. He keeps one hand near his rune hammer and the other resting on a tool belt. When lying, he rubs the copper wire in his beard. When discussing the Nova's Heart, he becomes unusually still, as though afraid sudden movement might crack the world.
