Mair
Cleric, Mercy Domain
Mair
Species
Human
Appearance
Mair looks like someone who has slept in chapels, roadside barns, and once beneath a confiscated magistrate's wagon. Her face is narrow and soft around the mouth, with a small scar cutting through her left eyebrow and faint burn marks circling both wrists. Her dark auburn hair is braided close to the scalp on one side and left loose on the other, giving her an unfinished, slightly lopsided silhouette. She moves quietly until she is angry, when every motion becomes precise and almost ceremonial. Her hands are callused from cart repairs and grave digging, yet she wears one exquisitely made gold ear-cuff shaped like a tiny flame. The unexpected contradiction is that her eyes are warm and maternal while her smile, when it appears during an argument, is the smile of someone who has already decided what must be done.
“Low, measured, and intimate, with a faint rasp from years of preaching in cold chapels. Her formal sermons carry a rhythmic Levantine cadence, while her private speech has clipped Gaelic-like turns of phrase.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin scar through the left eyebrow
Faint circular burn scars around both wrists
A gold flame-shaped ear-cuff that never leaves her left ear
A habitually ink-stained right thumb from copying petitions and church records
A small white streak in her auburn hair caused by a failed exorcism
Voice
“A low contralto with a dry warmth, like a kettle beginning to sing in a cold kitchen. Her sermons are steady and resonant, while her private voice softens into a near whisper.”
Clothing
A weather-stained blue-gray traveling coat over a padded gambeson and chain shirt, a cream clerical sash embroidered with a broken circle of breath and flame, sturdy mud-caked boots, fingerless gloves, and a red scarf used alternately as a bandage, hood, or mourning veil
Body Language
Mair keeps her shield close to her ribs rather than held proudly outward. When listening, she tilts her head toward the speaker and watches their hands. She touches her gold ear-cuff whenever someone mentions her mother, Iven, or the church hierarchy. In combat, her posture is compact and protective, with one foot always angled toward the nearest wounded ally.
