Thalene Meketh
Psionist (Concordant Voice)
Thalene Meketh
Species
Chromavaft
Appearance
Thalene is a tall chromavaft woman whose skin resembles smoked glass lit from within by slow-moving bands of amber, violet, and sea-green light. Her face is narrow and severe, with translucent cheek plates that catch reflections like polished crystal. She rarely looks anyone in the eye, instead watching the shimmering gauges strapped around her left wrist. Her movements are economical and nearly silent, but when startled, the colors beneath her skin flare violently and cast hard-edged shadows across nearby walls. She wears an expression of exhausted calculation even while comforting the grieving. The contradictory impression she leaves is of someone both fragile as spun glass and architecturally immovable.
“Her voice is low, breathy, and precise, with soft sibilants that sometimes seem to come from several directions at once. She speaks as though placing stones into a wall, one deliberate word at a time.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin crack runs from her right temple to the corner of her mouth, glowing faintly when she uses powerful Telepathy.
The colors beneath her skin shift in response to nearby emotions, though she tries to suppress the effect.
Her left wrist is encased in a ring of copper gauges that display pressure, magical current, and structural stress.
She wears one child's red bead threaded into the plain gray scarf at her throat.
Her shadow sometimes moves a fraction of a second before she does.
Voice
“A dry, intimate contralto with a breathy edge, like whispered instructions carried through a ventilation shaft. When she becomes angry, the voice loses all warmth and turns into a calm, resonant monotone.”
Clothing
Layered robes woven from fine copper wire, dark indigo cloth, and translucent strips of treated mica. The garments are reinforced at the knees and elbows for maintenance work, despite their ceremonial appearance. Her left sleeve is crowded with gauges, tuning forks, colored threads, and tiny pressure valves. A plain gray scarf covers the base of her throat.
Body Language
Thalene keeps her shoulders square and her hands folded behind her back, with one thumb constantly tracing the copper gauges on her wrist. She avoids direct eye contact, but notices every reflection in the room. When angry, she becomes perfectly still. When frightened, her fingers make tiny conducting motions as if directing an invisible chorus.
