Appearance
Tallow is a narrow, weather-browned elf who weighs 108 pounds and stands with the loose, balanced posture of someone accustomed to uneven ground. His blond hair is sun-bleached almost white at the ends, but darkens to the color of old straw near the scalp. It is tied behind one ear with red thread and usually contains a feather, a burr, or a splinter of pine. His tanned skin is crosshatched by fine scars from bramble, talon, and bowstring. He moves with a quiet, economical glide, never quite seeming to put his heels down. His face is long and work-worn rather than beautiful, with a broken nose and a permanent crease between his brows. The unexpected thing is his hands: broad, blunt-fingered, and heavily callused like a ditch digger's, utterly at odds with his delicate elven features.

“A dry baritone with a faint rasp, like feathers dragged across bark. When he whispers, he sounds almost musical. When he shouts, the elven resonance disappears and he sounds like an exhausted laborer.”
Clothing
Well-oiled brown leather armor over a faded moss-green tunic, patched riding trousers, soft knee-high boots, and a gray wool cloak cut short to avoid snagging in brush. A narrow mithril plate is sewn beneath his left shoulder guard. His belt holds a bone whistle, a roll of sinew, small pruning shears, and a pouch of dried berries for Brindle.
Body Language
Tallow keeps his shoulders slightly hunched against imagined rain, tilts his head when listening, and rarely faces anyone squarely unless challenging them. His fingers constantly test the fletching of an arrow or rub the leather knot on his sword grip. When angry, he becomes perfectly still.
