Brannik Skeldros
Fighter
Brannik Skeldros
Species
Hill Dwarf
Appearance
Brannik Skeldros is a broad-shouldered hill dwarf with a battered face that looks carved rather than aged. His beard is thick, copper-brown, and threaded with iron-gray, but he keeps one side of it tightly braided while the other hangs loose and ragged. He moves with a deliberate, ground-hugging steadiness, placing each foot as if testing ice. His hands are scarred, square-fingered, and permanently darkened beneath the nails by forge soot. He leaves an impression of stubborn solidity, yet his careful movements and soft expression make him seem unexpectedly gentle until violence begins.
“His speech is low, clipped, and heavily consonantal, with old-fashioned dwarven phrasing. He rarely uses more words than necessary, but his descriptions of tools and tunnels become unexpectedly poetic.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale vertical scar runs from his right eyebrow to the corner of his mouth.
His left ear is notched from a mining accident.
The knuckles of his right hand bear tiny burn scars shaped like runes.
His shield has been repaired so many times that no two boards match.
He wears a red miner's scarf even when it is visibly uncomfortable.
Voice
“A gravelly baritone with a faint rasp, like a file dragged across iron. His voice becomes noticeably softer when speaking to children, animals, or the dead.”
Clothing
A soot-dark wool tunic under a patched leather brigandine, thick gray trousers, and iron-capped boots. A faded red scarf is wrapped around his neck despite warm weather. The scarf belonged to the miner who died in the collapse.
Body Language
He keeps his shield arm slightly raised even during ordinary conversation. When relaxed, he rubs the edge of his left thumbnail against his beard clasp. When angry, he becomes almost perfectly still, with only his eyes moving.
