Appearance
Zghruna is a wiry human woman with the compact, weather-hardened build of someone who has crawled through more ruins than she has walked across open ground. Her skin is copper-brown beneath a permanent film of gray dust, and old burns stipple her left shoulder like pale moth wings. Her black hair is cut unevenly with a shard of mirror, then tied into three short knots with colored electrical wire. One eye is dark brown, while the other is clouded blue from a childhood infection. She moves with a low, prowling gait, shoulders hunched and hands loose at her sides, as though every room might collapse. The unexpected contradiction is her immaculate fingernails, each one carefully polished with a scrap of wax, despite the rags, soot, and blood on the rest of her.
“Her voice is low, dry, and carefully measured, with clipped consonants and a faint Caucasus-like cadence. She often pauses before nouns, as if deciding whether the thing deserves a name.”

Clouded blue left eye and dark brown right eye
Burn scars shaped like pale moth wings across the left shoulder
Three uneven hair knots tied with colored electrical wire
Perfectly polished fingernails despite her filthy surroundings
A brass key worn on a cord beneath her shirt
Voice
“Quiet and rasping, with sudden warmth when speaking to children and a brittle politeness when threatened.”
Clothing
A sleeveless patchwork tunic made from grain sacks, frayed trousers cinched with copper wire, a ragged red scarf wrapped around her throat, mismatched sandals, and a belt of stitched leather pouches. Nothing is protective armor, and every garment can be torn into bandages or cord.
Body Language
She keeps her weight on the balls of her feet and rarely stands fully upright indoors. When lying, she polishes one fingernail with her thumb. When angry, she becomes completely still and folds her hands as if preparing to repair a watch.
