Marlow "Stoke" Hearth
Species
Human
Appearance
Marlow is a weathered human with the compact, powerful frame of someone who has spent decades hauling barrels and separating brawlers. His movements are economical and deceptively quiet, with a former soldier's habit of keeping his weight balanced over both feet. His hands are broad, scarred, and permanently stained around the knuckles by brewer's pitch. He has a flattened nose, a silver tooth, and a thin white scar that disappears beneath his left ear. His hair is cropped close except for one stubborn black lock that always falls over his forehead. Unexpectedly, despite his intimidating build and battlefield scars, he has a gentle, almost delicate way of arranging flowers in chipped cups along the bar.
“His voice is low, dry, and steady, with a faint northern accent. He speaks as though every sentence is being placed carefully on a table.”

Distinguishing Features
A silver tooth engraved with a tiny basin symbol.
A military scar across his left palm where a broken spear shaft once pinned it to a shield.
One black lock of hair that refuses to gray or stay combed.
A collection of blue ceramic flowers set into cracks in the tavern's walls.
He smells faintly of cedar smoke, yeast, and rainwater.
Voice
“A low, dry baritone with a northern accent, usually calm enough to make a threat sound like housekeeping advice.”
Clothing
A smoke-gray linen shirt, dark leather apron, reinforced trousers, and soft-soled boots. Beneath the apron he wears a faded military gambeson patched with blue thread. His old campaign cloak hangs behind the bar and is used as a curtain during storms.
Body Language
Marlow stands with his shoulders slightly rounded as though still carrying a shield. When calm, he polishes glasses in slow circles. When suspicious, he stops blinking and rests two fingers on the bar. When genuinely frightened, he begins arranging flowers.
