Anvilus Grime
Commoner, Veteran Farrier
Anvilus Grime
Species
Dragonborn
Appearance
Anvilus Grime is a broad, scarred dragonborn with charcoal-gray scales mottled by coppery patches around his throat, elbows, and knuckles. His left horn is broken halfway up, leaving a blunt ivory stump polished smooth from years of handling. A missing eyeridge gives his left eye a permanently startled look, while his right eye remains narrow and appraising. He moves with the heavy, deliberate rhythm of a draft horse, yet his hands are unexpectedly delicate when fitting a shoe or setting a rivet. Soot clings to him like velvet, and he smells of hot iron, rainwater, and bitterroot salve. The unexpected contradiction is his laugh, which is soft, musical, and almost birdlike despite his intimidating size.
“His voice is a low rasp softened by careful enunciation. He pauses before important words, as if testing them for flaws, and occasionally clicks his tongue against his teeth when considering whether someone is telling the truth.”

Distinguishing Features
One broken horn with a polished ivory stump.
A missing left eyeridge and a pale scar crossing the eye socket.
A burn-scar spiral around his right forearm.
A blackened tongue from years of testing metal by briefly pressing it to his tongue.
His tail is tipped with a strip of red cloth tied there by his apprentice Talla.
Voice
“Low, smoky, and measured, with a faint metallic rasp that becomes unexpectedly gentle around horses and children.”
Clothing
A scorched leather apron reinforced with overlapping iron scales, a sleeveless brown wool shirt, thick work trousers, and heavy boots fitted with small steel toe caps. A faded blue scarf from his childhood caravan is wrapped around his neck beneath the apron.
Body Language
He plants his feet wide and leans toward heat sources as if listening to them. His missing eyeridge makes one side of his face seem perpetually raised in suspicion. When weighing a decision, he rubs the broken horn with two soot-blackened fingers. Around horses, his shoulders loosen and his tail makes slow, contented sweeps.
