Set the Scene

Mara Velez meets the crew in a dim apartment laundry room while the building rattles under a distant jackhammer line. She hands over a paper notice with a corporate seal and says the seal is fake, but the pressure behind it is very real. Outside, someone in a clean coat is already filming the front entrance.

Background Lore

A block of rowhouse apartments in an old manufacturing district is being quietly emptied by a shell redevelopment company. Tenants who resist are getting harassed, utilities cut, and a few have vanished long enough to make everyone nervous. The district sits on the edge of a contested data corridor, so whoever controls the building also controls a buried access path into corporate infrastructure.

What the World Knows

Mara Velez hires the crew to stop a forced redevelopment of her apartment block and learn why the corporate buyers are so determined to seize it. The job starts as tenant protection and turns into a race through the building's service levels for proof that the site is worth more than real estate. The crew must decide whether to expose the plot, sell the evidence, or burn the whole deal down.
